Putting a focus on outstanding documentary productions from Europe, European Film Promotion has initiated THE CHANGING FACE OF EUROPE programme in collaboration with Hot Docs. For the second time in 2019, a dedicated section of the festival will present European filmmakers and their work, including Latvian coming-of-age documentary INGA CAN HEAR by the director Kaspars Goba.

The selected filmmakers will also participate in intensive and valuable industry activities, including workshops, pitches and meetings with potential buyers, all aimed at furthering their international contacts and careers, as well as offering opportunities for the sales of their films worldwide.

Latvian coming-of-age documentary INGA CAN HEAR by the director Kaspars Goba and producer Ieva Goba is a subtle cinematic observation of 16 year old Inga, the only hearing member of a deaf family living in the remote Latvian country-side. Since the age of 7, Inga has been the family’s interpreter in the hearing world. Her role in the family has forced her to grow up quickly, and she fluctuates between acting as a responsible young woman and a moody teenager.
