My Freedom (Mana brīvība), dir. Ilze Kunga-Melgaile, 98’, Latvia, 2023

Alicija, a liberal Polish-born free-thinker, joins the protest movement in Latvia in the late 1980s. Her newlywed husband, Ilgvars, is of a different generation and urges her to be more careful. With the support of a close friend, Alicija soon comes to the forefront of the Singing Revolution. But then she receives an anonymous letter accusing Ilgvars of being a KGB informant, and his ambiguous response leaves her in doubt. She continues fighting for Latvian independence, but eventually faces an unenviable choice.
