Representatives from the National Film Centre of Latvia, Latvian Film Producers’ Association, Riga Film Fund as well as over 40 Latvian film professionals (producers, directors, screenwriters, distributors, critics) will be available for meetings February 20–27.

LATVIA @ MARKET SCREENINGS
Use the unique chance to catch the No 1 Latvian box office sensation in the last 30 years – Blizzard Of Souls (2019) by the young director Dzintars Dreibergs. The feature is based on Aleksandrs Grins’ novel of the same title, script was adapted by Boris Frumin, the associate professor of NYU TISCH. What starts as a naive love story of sixteen-year-old Arturs, gets suddenly interrupted by the outbreak of WWI and turns into epic fight for freedom.
Score was composed by the ten-time Emmy Award-nominee Lolita Ritmanis. The feature was produced by the director himself, Inga Praņevska and the co-producer Ilona Bičevska (Riga-based company Kultfilma). The DOP of the film – Valdis Celmiņš has been recently nominated for IMAGO Awards.

LATVIA @ SHARE YOUR SLATE
Inese Boka Grūbe – producer (company Mistrus Media) will participate in the project development platform Share Your Slate (February 23-27).
Mistrus Media will present 3 fiction features projects in the development stage – On the Other Side (dir. Armands Zvirbulis), January (dir. Viestur Kairish) and Pig in ‘Pah (dir. Aik Karapetian).
LATVIA @ GREEN FILM SHOOTING
Antra Cilinska – producer (company Juris Podnieks Studio) will be on the panel at the discussion on green film production (February 20) – alongside producers from Germany, Switzerland and Spain. The event is organised by the Green Film Shooting platform along with its partners. Antra Cilinska was the producer of Jelgava ’94 – the first film shot in Latvia observing green film production principles.

On February 23 at 3PM the director of the Baltic Sea Forum For Documentaries (#BalticSeaDocs) – cinema researcher Zane Balčus will participate at the DocSalon Speeches.
Every year, Baltic Sea Docs gathers over 100 professional filmmakers from the Baltic Sea region and Eastern and Central Europe. Participating in the forum is an invaluable way for filmmakers to find funding for the production of their projects and to ensure that their films reach a wide audience across Europe.
