"Flow" by Gints Zilbalodis earns yet another importants recogniztion - at the Independent Spirit Awards it was awared as the Best International Film.
The Independent Spirit Awards are given to low-budget films that are financed at least in part by sources outside the Hollywood studio system.
Flow has won more than 50 international awards, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Film. At the Academy Awards, Zilbalodis' animated film will compete to win Best Animated Feature and Best International Film.
Film is financially supported by the National Film Centre of Latvia, the State Culture Capital Foundation, Eurimages, the French National Film Centre, television Arte and Canal+, as well as various regional funds and support programmes in France and Belgium. The film was created as a co-production of three countries - Dream Well Studio (Latvia), Sacrebleu Productions (France) and Take Five (Belgium).
