Aik Karapetian is in production with his third feature length film, a thriller. Now, in the harsh Latvian winter, location shooting takes place in the woods and on a frozen lake. Kaspars Znotiņš, Maija Doveika and Kaspars Zāle are the main cast.

‘The unexpected frost has made us extremely happy,’ says Roberts Vinovskis, producer of the film. ‘If not the favourable weather, we would be in deep trouble. We had our fingers crossed for the whole month of December, waiting for the snow. As without real snow and frozen lake this would have turned into a very costly film’. The shooting, with breaks, will continue until the summer. Premiere of ‘Firstborn’ is expected early next year.
The thriller is focusing on a troubled marriage. Francis’s relationship with his wife Katrina could be happy if not for their inability to have children. A younger man, who at first harasses the couple, will challenge Francis’s trust in his wife.
