His beloved dogs escape and start terrorizing locals, and he has to reconcile his differences with his wife to prevent the looming disaster. The story is based on Matthew Gossett’s script “Origin Of A Species”, adapted to Latvia.
Shooting of the film, supported by the National Film Centre of Latvia and produced by ‘Tasse Film’, began February 2016, with the premiere expected sometime in 2017. It will star Vilis Daudziņš and Ieva Puķe as the protagonists. The film is a co-production between Latvia, Poland, and Lithuania.
Jānis Nords’ previous features – 2007’s ‘Amateur’ and especially 2013’s ‘Mother, I Love You’ – were well-received, and the latter was selected as the Latvian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards.
