On February 5th, Berlin audiences are invited to the cinema “Sputnik” to explore the little-known Baltic mythology, legends and folk tales that will be screened at the animation night “Once Upon A Time…” The program includes 16 short films from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
The 2-hour program will give the viewers an opportunity to look into the Pagan worldview of the Baltic States. These animations tell stories of gods and demons, witches and fairies, deities of natural forces, legends of the sites and cities as well as insight into the traditional festivities.
Among the 16 films of the program, there are 5 films made by Latvian directors: “Kalado” (2002), “Looking for the Lost Child” (2003) and “Song of Sun” (2003) by Roze Stiebra, “Once Upon A Time, God…” (2009) by Māra Liniņa and “Latvian Puffs Ducklings” (1999) by Agnese Bule.
Film program “Once Upon A Time…” will be screened on February 5th, at 10 pm at the cinema “Sputnik” (Hasenheide 54, 10967 Berllin-Kreuzberg).
All the films will be screened in their original languages with English subtitles.
