2ANNAS Forum for film professionals and the presentation of European short film initiative

Current trends, discussions and inspirational stories – this is what 2ANNAS offers for both film professionals and young talents on April 12 and April 13 within the programme of industry events. In collaboration with Short Film Conference, an organisation uniting the global short film community, everyone is invited to join 2ANNAS FORUM: “Can we be green? – Film industry example”. Moreover, two European short film initiatives will be presented to promote and distribute short films in cooperation with the Creative Europe MEDIA Desks Latvia and NRW (North Rhine Westphalia).

As more and more festivals worldwide are broadening the discourse on nature protection and climate issues, our aim is to spice up the conversation on climate change and nurture it into concrete actions as well as encourage the festivals in practicing sustainable solutions. Three inspiring case studies will be shared by Lotte Kircher, Head of Industry at Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, Sven Schwarz, Director at Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, and Alexandrine Doré Pilote, Production manager at Festival du Nouveau Cinema. In the second part of the day, the non-profit organization “A Greener Festival” will share a concrete action plan on how to work in an environmentally friendly way in an hour-long lecture. On April 13, we will focus on Latvian examples as they share their thoughts on the ups and downs of making their events and performances more environmentally friendly with Guna Dātava (Institute for Environmental Solutions), Bek Berger (New Theatre Institute of Latvia), Daina Auziņa (Muzeji Vides ilgtspējai), Gundega Turnele (International music festival Laba Daba) and Kristīne Brīniņa (choreographer). The event will be moderated by Eva Johansone.

On April 12 two European short film initiatives will be presented as an integral part of the 2ANNAS Industry Days. We invite everyone to come and celebrate Europe’s emerging talents and the promotion of shorts across borders in cooperation with the Creative Europe MEDIA Desks Latvia and NRW (North Rhine Westphalia). T-Port is an innovative non-profit online platform supported by MEDIA, which aims to promote new talent and facilitate the distribution of short films among professionals. Amos Geva, international manager of T-Port, will present how the platform works. Meanwhile, Hilke Doering will present “This is Short”, an online short film portal. Platform, co-produced by the members of the European Short Film Network (ESFN), consists of original content as well as direct access to the online offer of four film festivals – Go Short (NL), Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen (DE), Vienna Shorts (AT) and Short Waves (PL). The short film portal is designed as an online festival, providing hundreds of films, competitions, interviews, talks and opportunities to vote and provide feedback.

All Industry Day events are free of charge and will be held in English. To participate in the forum “Can we be green? – Film Industry example” on April 12, it is necessary to apply in advance – by April 9 at 15:00 CET (, but other events will be live streamed on Facebook. More information is available at events section.
